We Speak Green!
Green Building Construction
Modtech® was one of the first companies in the industry to design-build a Green building constructed off-site meeting Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) and US Green Building Council LEED criteria. We continue to lead the way with new innovative Green building designs and we can apply Green designs to a wide variety of buildings. Our LEED accredited staff architect has over 15 years of experience with Green construction and can assist in project design and help with building certification. Our experience provides us with working knowledge of Green building materials and access to suppliers.
Green Building Options
Green building options include use of environmentally friendly Green building products, energy saving technologies, operational cost saving materials and features to improve the interior environment through noise reduction and improved air quality. These practices promote many positive green building effects on environment.
LEED Rating System
The US Green Building Council has developed The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System, which is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high-performance Green buildings in the United States. LEED provides Green building owners and operators with the tools they need to have an immediate and measurable impact on their Green building's performance.
Visit the US Green Building Council for more information about the LEED Green Building Rating System.
Environmentally Friendly Manufacturing
Modtech's commitment to the environment goes beyond simply manufacturing Green buildings. The Off-Site Construction process dramatically reduces material waste.
- Cardboard is mulched to create new cardboard
- Copper wire is melted down to make new wire
- Large pieces of wood are directly reused to create shipping pallets
- Small pieces of wood are ground up and used in an electrical generation plant
- Steel is melted down and reused
- Waste office paper, run-off water, oils, excess paint, used filters, paint residue, used aerosol cans and empty caulking tubes are sent out for processing
Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS)
